Discovery Charter School is located at 800 Canonie Drive in Porter, Indiana, next to the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. The site is one-quarter mile east of SR 49, between US 12 and US 20.
The building is in great shape, both structurally and mechanically. We've torn down the inside walls and created classrooms to fit our needs. Eco-friendly products and systems have been used whenever possible. Construction is on schedule.
The general contractor for the school is Bouma Construction. Bouma has extensive experience in building educational structures. CDM is our architect. We are working with them to design a school that will be practical, functional and very cool!
None of this would be possible without our partnerships with Charter School Development Corporation (CSDC) and IFF. CSDC is a non-profit organization established to help assist public charter schools with the acquisition and financing of their facilities. IFF is the largest community development financial institution exclusively serving nonprofit corporations in the Midwest.
