If you cannot complete the electronic signature portion in the downloadable PDF from above, you can sign it upon confirmation of enrollment. This will not effect your application submission date.
The application deadline is April 16, 2010. Do not hand deliver applications to the school.
If more applications are received than available space, Discovery Charter School will hold a lottery to select students. The lottery will be held on April 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Library Service Center, located at 100 W. Indiana Ave. in Chesterton.
Students for whom applications are received after April 16, 2010 will be admitted on a space available basis or placed on the waiting list.
LotteryWe hope to accommodate all applicants. However, if the number of applicants at any grade level exceeds the number of openings, admission will be determined by the use of a State required lottery of eligible candidates. Priority will be given to siblings of enrolled students. Applications will be taken from February, 2010 until April 16, 2010. This group of applicants will make up the lottery pool. The lottery will take place April 23, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at the Library Service Center, located at 100 W. Indiana Ave. in Chesterton. Students will be notified of their status via email and/or USPS mail. The lottery will be conducted in accordance with established Indiana Charter School regulations, details of which will be included in the school record.
Waiting ListA waiting list will be established for applicants not selected in the lottery. Position on the waiting list will be determined during the initial lottery process for applications received before the application deadline. The waiting list will be maintained until the end of the current school year—it will be recreated each year. Discovery Charter School will admit students on a space available basis after the start of the school year. Applicants submitting after the deadline will be placed on the waiting list based upon date of receipt of their application, i.e., first come, first served. Applicants will be notified of their position on the waiting list and spaces will be filled in numerical order from the list.
